Entertainment

When I travel I love to see shows. Shows from stand-up comedians in comedy clubs to Broadway musicals. From cheesy nightclub reviews to Las Vegas extravaganzas. I also have the uncanny luck and sometimes extreme pleasure of meeting the performers.

On this page I’ll share recommendations, photo’s, insights, stories and interviews whenever possible.

Taylor Hicks Live in Las Vegas

April 19, 2014 at 8:53 pm | 2 comments

My wife and I have been total Taylor Hicks fanatics since we saw him audition for American Idol in 2006. We knew this guy had “it” from the very first notes that we heard him sing. We knew that he would win and we both voted for him about 200 times a night to help […]

“Pin Up” starring Claire Sinclair

April 6, 2014 at 10:08 pm | No comment

If you’re planning a trip to Las Vegas and would like to see a great vintage Vegas show put “Pin Up” at the Stratosphere Hotel at the top of your list. Great music, dancing, singing and the ticket prices won’t break the bank either. I must admit that the selling point for this show to […]

San Diego music in the early 80’s

December 17, 2012 at 3:15 pm | No comment

I had the pleasure of living in San Diego Ca. from 1979-1983…Looking through some of my old albums recently from those days made me realize what an amazing time that was for music. Anyone that lived there then will recognize some of these bands and clubs and will know what I’m talking about. The Penetrators […]

Get your groove on with “The Ticket Band”

May 20, 2012 at 7:00 pm | No comment

Oh yeah…that’s what I’m talking about! A band that kicks it old school. A little rock, a lot of funk and a whole bunch of rhythm and blues. I couldn’t believe my wife and I were lucky enough to accidentally run into this band at a neighborhood bar on a lark. Looking to just get […]

The top 10 albums I can’t live without

May 5, 2012 at 5:12 pm | No comment

1.) PINK FLOYD Dark Side of the Moon (1973) I’m sure this album’s at the top of a lot of peoples lists, and rightfully so. This piece from beginning to end is the closest thing to a brilliant Beethoven or Mozart symphony (in an awesome rock & roll kind of way) that someone in […]

Julie Newmar…Then and Now (And How!)

February 24, 2012 at 1:32 pm | No comment

If you are a male, which I am… if you grew up in the 60’s, which I did… and if you had a pulse, you were at some point in your adolescence in love with Julie Newmar. I would feel silly and extremely self-conscious confessing to all of you that she was, in fact, my […]

Al Pacino up close & in person

February 16, 2012 at 2:54 pm | No comment

Anyone who has known me for more than 10 minutes knows that my favorite actor of all time is Al Pacino. From “Panic in Needle park”, “The Godfather” and “Scarface” to “And Justice For All”, “Dog Day Afternoon”, “Serpico” and every other film and stage performance in between, I’ve studied every eye movement, every subtle […]

Emily Kinney “Blue Toothbrush”

January 28, 2012 at 8:48 pm | 3 comments

I first became aware of Emily Kinney when I saw her play Anna in “Spring Awakening” on Broadway. Having been lucky enough to score on stage seats for this show, it was a great opportunity to see and feel the passion of the cast up close and personal. In my humble opinion, Emily’s passion and […]

Le Reve (The Dream) Las Vegas

January 13, 2012 at 2:15 pm | 6 comments

It’s been a year since I’ve seen “Le Reve” at The Wynn in Las Vegas. A year and yet its images and beauty are still etched clearly in my mind. Franco Dragone who was the genius behind Cirque Du Soleil in its prime created the show. Le Reve has all of the freaky stock characters […]
